Rarities and demo's
We have taped a lot of music in the recent years which did not fit in the playlists of Crazy Like A Fox and Storm & Ontij. Some were covers, others self composed experiments, half finished demo's or various versions of tracks. On this page we will publish these try-outs, demo's and rarities because they are still worthwhile listening to because of the roughness, emptiness, richness, 'unfinishedness' or just very special things that take place.

Ooit was ik degene is on our CD but this demo was recorded live while a visitor accompanied us on the piano. The demo was done without any preparation or practice. The piano adds a lot of value and feeling to the song, it starts very modest, looking for the right chords and tones, but along the way it beautifully melts into the world of the song. In the future we should record it with piano (and a violin ensemble).

Gouden bladeren - golden leaves. We have a lot of sound samples in our magic box. The lyrics are based on a translation of a letter by the American writer and poet Sylvia Plath (1932 - 1963) she wrote to her mother on October 5, 1950. We had a very nice sound sample and did not know what to do with it. It was too interesting to just throw away and forget about it. In one way or another the lyrics of the letter of Sylvia Plath with some improvisation lyrics fitted with the sound collage. Sylvia Plath? Through Ryan (no, not Brian) Adams who wrote a song with the beautiful line of poetry "I wish I had, a Sylvia Plath".
- Autumn leaves. A very popular song and jazz standard composed by Joseph Kosma in 1945 with original lyrics by Jacques Prévert in French (original French title: "Les feuilles mortes"), and later by Johnny Mercer in English. We had the version of Frank Sinatra in mind when we recorded it. It is a simple live recording, spanish guitar travis picking and vocals directly taped. straightforward, simple and beautiful vocals.
